Frequently Asked Questions
What is DCA injection?
DCA injection uses deoxycholic acid to reduce localized fat. Deoxycholic acid damages fat-cell membranes, destroying the cells. It is commonly used when submental fat makes a double chin prominent.
What results may I expect?
It may help reduce volume caused by submental fat and improve contours. Changes vary with fat amount and skin condition. Treatment areas and plans depend on the actual product's approved labeling and medical assessment.
What are the adverse effects of DCA injection?
Swelling, bruising, pain, reduced sensation and firmness may occur. Reported complications include facial asymmetry from nerve injury, difficulty swallowing, skin ulceration or necrosis, and infection. Seek emergency care immediately for difficulty breathing or swallowing.
Are WayB Line Injection and DCA injections the same?
They are separate treatments. DCA injection uses deoxycholic acid, while WayB Line Injection is a separate fat-dissolving injection for localized fat and contour.
Can MILLIFIT be used outside the submental area?
Safety and efficacy for subcutaneous fat outside the submental area are unestablished and use is not recommended. It is not described as approved for contouring other body areas.
What should I disclose before treatment?
We first assess whether submental volume is fat, laxity or another cause. Disclose local infection, ingredient sensitivity, dysphagia history, bleeding conditions/medications and previous submental surgery/procedures. Pregnancy/breastfeeding must also be checked.
