What is Sofwave?

Sofwave simultaneously delivers parallel ultrasound beams, creating cylindrical heat-coagulation zones in the mid-dermis about 1.5mm below the surface. Cooling protects the surface; dermal energy induces new collagen and elastin during recovery.

Sofwave mainly acts on dermis supporting firmness. Goals differ from deeper lifting, so we distinguish skin looseness from descended tissue. Severe sagging may suit other procedures or surgery.

Who may be suitable?

  • When skin feels deflated, weak or loose
  • When both fine lines and reduced firmness concern you
  • Laxity after rapid weight changes
  • When you want additional firming after a facelift
  • When areas such as mouth-to-chin marionette lines are difficult to address with Ultherapy alone
  • When electronic implants or other reasons limit monopolar RF and you want to discuss another firming option

What to check before treatment

Sofwave cannot be used when a pacemaker or electronic implant is in the treatment area. Implants elsewhere also require checking type/location. Inability to receive RF does not automatically make Sofwave suitable.

Disclose facelift, filler or threads and dates/sites, wounds, inflammation, infection, severe acne, pregnancy/breastfeeding and keloid history. For primary hollows, we also consider volume options.

How does it work?

Seven transducers simultaneously create parallel cylindrical mid-dermal zones about 1mm wide. Target temperature is around 60–70℃. Concurrent surface cooling aims to reduce heat damage, but rare burns/blisters remain possible.

Coagulation zones contract during recovery, activating fibroblasts and increasing collagen/elastin. This proceeds over 1–3 months, so effects appear gradually.

When do results appear, and how long do they last?

  • Immediately after treatment: Slight redness and tightness, mixed with swelling response.
  • 2–4 weeks: Texture may feel smoother first.
  • 1–3 months: Collagen regeneration makes firmness and fine-line changes more apparent.
  • Maintenance: Effects may last about 12 months or longer; further treatment follows skin and response.

How is the treatment performed?

  1. Assessment · Design: Assess whether sagging involves dermis or fascia, and skin thickness, to set scope.
  2. Anesthesia: Topical anesthesia for 20–30 minutes.
  3. Treatment: The handpiece contacts each area for delivery. Heat repeats; order and pauses follow the Comfort Standard.
  4. Soothing: Cooling/soothing before leaving.

Recovery & Precautions

  • Same-day redness/slight swelling usually settles within hours.
  • Avoid saunas, strenuous exercise and alcohol that day; continue sunscreen.
  • We plan intervals from filler, threads and strong laser treatments.

Contact the clinic if this occurs

  • If blisters or weeping occur
  • If sensation is reduced or expressions feel unusual
  • If redness or pain worsens over several days

How we proceed at WayB

  • We first distinguish the sagging layer. Sofwave may be advised for dermal firmness; Ultherapy PRIME is considered first for fascial sagging.
  • We review surgery, weight changes and existing filler/thread sites to plan scope for current skin.
  • Consultation and treatment in private rooms, in 4 languages.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I choose Sofwave or Ultherapy PRIME?

It depends on layer: Sofwave for thin-skin firmness/fine lines, Ultherapy PRIME for structural cheek/jawline sagging, confirmed clinically.

How painful is it?

Repeated heat sensations and pain may occur. Variation is substantial, so topical anesthesia is standard.

Can I apply makeup immediately after treatment?

Usually possible the same day. Use low-irritation products if redness remains.

How many sessions do I need?

Usually one session followed by assessment. Effects may last about 12 months or longer, but individual variation means progress determines further treatment.

Can it be used around the eyes?

Used for brow lifting and eye-area fine lines. Treatment range is limited for eye protection and determined clinically.
