What is Sculptra?

Sculptra stimulates collagen using PLLA. Post-injection tissue response induces collagen, with wrinkle/volume changes monitored over time.

Used for adult facial wrinkles, with changes as collagen develops. Immediate appearance also reflects swelling and injected fluid.

What are Sculptra's features?

Gradual change through PLLA

It induces collagen to restore volume and improve wrinkles. Treatment follows skin/tissue response rather than completing shape at once.

Initial appearance vs later progress

Reconstitution fluid and swelling may cause initial fullness. Its settling does not immediately mean no effect; do not decide further treatment solely from initial appearance.

Planning around progress

Hollow extent, thickness and history guide sessions. It cannot be reversed like HA filler with enzyme, so avoiding overcorrection and observing response matter.

Who may be suitable?

  • When the face looks thinner and wrinkles concern you
  • When you want gradual volume across a broad area
  • When you prefer gradual natural-looking changes over immediate effects
  • When you want to address volume and skin after weight loss

What to check before treatment

Not used in thin, mobile areas such as lips or under eyes. Disclose inflammation/infection, autoimmune conditions, keloids and pregnancy/breastfeeding. Other procedures may better suit rapid, defined shape changes.

How does it differ from HA filler or Radiesse?

HA fillers use gel to fill space and shape volume. Sculptra induces collagen through skin response to PLLA, with gradual change.

Radiesse has CaHA microspheres in gel. Goals such as volume or firmness and dilution guide plans. Selection considers desired speed/scope and skin.

How is the treatment performed?

  1. Consultation: Assess hollow location/extent, thickness and history to set scope and sessions.
  2. Anesthesia · Preparation: Prepare anesthesia and product for skin and plan.
  3. Injection: Inject across layers suited to purpose and skin.
  4. Massage · Guidance: Explain aftercare, massage method/duration and review timing.

How are results and repeat treatments planned?

Immediately after treatment, reconstitution fluid and swelling may cause fullness. We assess later collagen-related wrinkles/volume rather than initial appearance alone.

Usually around 3 sessions 4–6 weeks apart, varying within 1–4 according to skin. Each response and goal guides the next session.

Recovery & Precautions

Swelling, bruising, tenderness or redness may occur, as can delayed bumps, nodules or inflammation. Follow massage instructions; massage does not prevent all nodules.

Report new firm lumps, redness, heat or pain. Severe pain, color changes or vision abnormalities require immediate medical assessment.

How we proceed at WayB

  • Hollow extent, skin and goals guide sites and plan. Collagen response and volume changes guide further treatment.
  • Not used in areas with higher nodule risk, such as lips or under the eyes.
  • We provide written massage method/duration instructions and proceed after understanding.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which suits me, Sculptra or Radiesse?

They differ in ingredients, initial volume changes and later collagen response. Selection considers the extent of hollowness, skin condition, desired changes and recovery schedule.

Can it be dissolved like filler?

Sculptra is not HA filler and cannot be dissolved by hyaluronidase. Discuss desired changes and sites thoroughly beforehand.

Is massage necessary?

Following Sculptra massage instructions matters for nodule prevention. Follow method and duration.

How many sessions do I need?

Usually around 3 sessions 4–6 weeks apart, varying within 1–4 according to skin. Each response and goal guides the next session.

What if a nodule develops?

The course of nodules varies by type and timing. Some subside on their own; others need care. Report nodules, redness or pain without waiting so we can assess and respond.
